Homemade Coconut Body Scrub
I love body and lip scrubs. And, I love all things homemade. This recipe for homemade coconut body scrub is super simple and only takes minutes to make. I know homemade scrubs are nothing new, but I made this scrub over the weekend and thought...why not share it. I love how smooth coconut oil leaves my skin after shaving. And since it's summer that means there will be a lot of that happening over the coming months. Here's what you will need...
Homemade Coconut Body Scrub
Small mason jar or similar container
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup sugar
*I added 1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp. to make my scrub a bit more moisturizing.
It is important that the coconut oil be in liquid form. Since it's currently warm in my house, it was already in a liquid state. So, I didn't need to warm it up. But, if it's in solid form, you can place the jar in a saucepan and heat with water. To make the scrub just add the liquid oil to the sugar and mix! That's it! I'll tell ya' coconut oil is amazing. Not only is it great for sugar scrubs, but I use it to cook (it's uber healthy), in my hair, and uh...other stuff. I can't rave enough about it. I'm not a huge fan of some of the other coconut products, but the oil is where its at. Give the stuff a try!
The scrub might separate or harden a bit, but no worries. It will still still work just fine.... This stuff makes great gifts! You can also try adding some essential oils to the concoction to add a delightful fragrance. My favorites are tea tree, lavender, and lemon! -Ruth-

I love making my own scrubs! I make mine with honey, brown sugar and cinnamon essential oil. Thanks for sharing!
I will have to try out the brown sugar!!! I have a whole bunch of it (and I don't eat much sugar anymore) so it's sitting in the cabinet getting hard!!!
