Tonto National Forest | www.isntthatsew.com
Hey guys! I just love taking photographs while Arizona road trippin' What I don't like so much is the post processing! I recently shared a little bit about our off road experience at Bulldog Canyon and I shared heaps of photos on Instagram. Like this one of, like 60 Himalayan salt lamps. What!?! But, today...here are a few fun shots of my in-laws back yard in the Tonto National Forrest. Enjoy! -Ruth-

Places and Spaces: Bull Dog Canyon, Apache Junction, Arizona

Apache Junction, Arizona || www.isntthatsew.com
One of my favorite things to do when we visit Arizona is to take the four wheeler and side-by-side out into the desert! It is so much fun! And, in my opinion, the only way to really see the desert. Photographs will never do this beautiful place justice. Never. Needless to say, I am head over heals, in love with Phoenix and the surrounding area. I means, so much so ... that I am already planning on an early retirement. I think Mark and I can live out there in the Winter, Spring, and Fall and sell our handmade wares. Sounds like a great plan, ay?

Anyhow, these are just a couple of photos from one day of off roadin'. Bull Dog Canyon is super close to Marks Dads house, so we were able to just drive the OHV's there. Yup, you read that right. On the road! In Arizona, you can drive OHV (off highway vehicles) on the road! As long as it's not a major highway, of course! You'd be shocked at just how fast these babies go! Well, stay tuned. As I sort through my photos, I'll keep sharing bits and pieces. Cheers!

Places and Spaces || The Perot Museum Part 2

As I mentioned in THIS POST, we went to visit The Perot Museum in downtown Dallas when my cousins visited last month. What drew us to visit was the Animals Inside Out Exhibit. I've seen Body Worlds in the past...and this exhibit, while not quite as extensive, was just as awesome! These are a few of my favorite shots from the exhibit. Hope you like Animals, Inside Out! -Ruth-

Places and Spaces || The Perot Museum Part 1

The Perot Museum || Dallas, Texas || www.isntthatsew.com
Back in mid-December, a couple of my cousins swung by on their way to the Spartan Race in Glenrose, Texas. It was fun to have them here for a few days! We really wanted to visit I Fly ...but, they were booked solid because the place is brand new. So, we went to see Animals Inside Out at the The Perot Museum instead. We had a blast. The Perot has all kinds of neat things; like a musical stair case, heaps of awesome exhibits, and this awesome wall! Check it out! -Ruth-

It has recently come to my attention that I never "officially" blogged about Palo Duro Canyon. Last September we traveled 6 hours to the Panhandle of Texas to visit this great place and to celebrate our two year wedding anniversary. Since we are quickly approaching our third (September Fourth) I figured, now is as good of time as any!

Did you know, Palo Duro Canyon, located in Canyon, Texas, is the second largest canyon in the United States! Second, of course, to the Grand Canyon. Palo Duro is 120 miles long, and in some spots, 20 miles wide! The maximum depth is 800 feet. Compared to the Grand Canyon, at 277 miles long, 18 miles wide, and 6,000 feet deep.

We had a blast during our last visit and I would love to go again! This place is grand, beautiful and in the middle of nowhere! There isn't much up there in the Panhandle, but this State Park is a true gem. If you are ever passing through the area, I highly recommend stopping. The views in this park are worth the visit! -Ruth-

Places and Spaces | Memorial Day Edition

Since Mark and I live one thousand miles from our family and friends, we spent Memorial Day at local park called Bethany Lakes. We bought a fishing license and spent the day on the waters edge. It was relaxing and kind of hot. Thankfully, it was partly cloudy so it was quite tolerable. We caught a dozen fish and, of course, we released them. I also caught a few turtles. There were more geese and mallards at this park than I have ever seen in one location. There were also huge amounts of feathers floating through the air! It was like confetti! Never seen such a thing.

Although, I have never lost anyone to war. I did repeat silent prayers for those who have lost love ones. It reveals ones true character and takes such courage to stand up and fight for your Country and to pay the ultimate sacrifice. On our Countries most solemn holiday, we thank thank and pray for those in active duty. Past. Present. And Future.   -Ruth-

 No turtles or fish were hurt in the making of this post.

Several weeks ago, Mark and I ventured up to Lake Texoma. Lake Texoma is on the boarder of, get this, Texas and Oklahoma! No way, right? I love how Texas combines it's names with other states, for example, Texarkana,  Texhoma, AND Texoma. Well played Texas. Anyhow, this place is amazing! We enjoyed a nice overcast, but warm day and hiked the rocky shores for hours! -Ruth-

About a month ago now, Mark and I found this little gem about a half a mile from our house! We will definitely be visiting it again in the near future! I am working from home today developing new styles for our swimwear line! I'm having so much fun pattern making, specing, and sewing samples....I hope you have a happy Friday! -Ruth-
