Time for a break...

Henry the Westie || Isn't that Sew
Hey y'all, it's time for a break. It's going to be a bit quiet around here for the next few weeks. Not only is it the busy season at work; but, the Holidays are officially upon us. I've been busy wrapping my handmade goodies, fulfilling orders, and planning for 2014. I have some exciting things planned for ITS Handmade and the blog in 2014. In the meantime, stay current and sign up for the ITS Handmade Newsletter! You can sign up on the right side bar, on my website, or by clicking this LINK. Cheers! -Ruth-

DFW Ice Storm 2013

Dallas Ice Storm 2013 || Isn't that Sew
Happy Monday Folks! Things are s l o w l y  starting to return to normal here in North Texas. The DFW area has basically been closed since Friday. And by closed, I mean...literally. CLOSED. Everything from roads, to schools, to the post have been closed. The grocery stores even ran out of food!

Some folks are braving the still icy conditions this morning and heading into work. Luckily, I'm able to work from home. And thank God for that! It's treacherous out there! Things should finally start to thaw out during the day today...but, they are expected to refreeze again tonight. However, later in the week, we should be back in the 40°'s + 50°'s again. So, that's promising.

Now, I've never seen anything like this, and I'm a northerner! It has truly been quite the event. Everything was covered in a thick layer of ice. In fact, my husband was able to ice skate on all of the surrounding roads. We even made a make shift sled out of a plastic tote. He pulled me and the pups around on Saturday. Needless to say, it was a lot of fun. We were fortunate and did not loose electricity. I was grateful for that! There are a lot of down trees in the area, as well as the dangers of falling ice. Here's to everyone staying safe and things returning to normal! -Ruth-

Handmade Holidays

My folks came to visit for Thanksgiving. It was so nice having them here for the week! I can't wait until we get to travel home for Christmas! While my mom was here, we took advantage of the time and made some holiday gifts! I can't wait to share these treats with our loved ones this Season!

This was such an easy and fun project! I used the labels that I designed and then shared hereI used this recipe for the body scrubs and this recipe for the linen sprays. The glass spray bottles came from Vitamin Shoppe and the 4 oz. Jelly Jars came from  Walmart.com

Have you been planning any handmade Holiday gifts?

Insta-Recap || November 2013

November Instagram | Isn't that Sew
Folks, December is upon us and it is already in full swing. Fall is slowly fading away and succumbing to the Winter air. It is hard to believe we've already celebrated Thanksgiving...It has come and gone. And now, we look forward to Christmas. I can tell I've been busy because this November I uploaded only nine photos to Instagram. I don't expect December to be much different! What do you have planned for this last month of the year?
